Karuna Care London is being created as a place where compassion is not simply expressed but carefully translated into daily practice. The name Karuna signifies compassion, and we treat it as our organising principle. It shapes how we design the building, how we train and support staff, and how we intend to respond to each person who comes to live with us. Our aim is to offer a small, calm and intelligently run home for adults who need support, but who also wish to retain a clear sense of identity, privacy and control over the rhythm of their own lives.
We are not interested in providing care that is limited to tasks and routines. The service we are building is designed to bring together physical comfort, emotional security and meaningful human connection. Residents will have private, well-appointed rooms with ensuite, that they can truly make their own, the reassurance of staff who know them by name and history, and the opportunity to participate in ordinary, enjoyable everyday life within a safe and predictable environment. Independence, where possible, will be encouraged, but never at the expense of safety or dignity.
We understand that choosing a care setting is a serious and often difficult decision for individuals and families. It calls for more than warm words. It requires confidence that the provider is transparent, professionally run and willing to be held to account. From the outset, Karuna Care London is being developed with clear standards, open communication and a strong governance framework, so that when the service becomes operational, residents and their families can trust that compassion is matched by competence, reliability and thoughtful, personalised care.
The property is owned by the management of Karuna Care London, rather than leased or managed through a third-party landlord, which gives the service long‑term stability, security of tenure and full control over the environment in which residents will live. The London Borough of Hillingdon has granted sui generis planning permission for the premises to accommodate up to ten individuals.
Our governing board is composed of individuals with distinguished careers in diplomacy, international organisations such as UNICEF, policing, the foreign service, academic research and the adult social care sector.
Important Notice
Karuna Care London is currently in its development phase. We are preparing our first adult care service and progressing through the process of registration with the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Until that registration has been granted and all statutory conditions have been met, we will not admit residents and we will not provide any regulated care. This period is being used deliberately to finish the environment, appoint and train the team, and embed the clinical, safety and governance systems that must be in place before anyone moves in.
We know that families and professionals need clarity when they are planning for the future. For that reason, we are open about our current status and about the steps that must be completed before opening. As our CQC application progresses, we will update this site with accurate information and, once we are inspected, we will publish our CQC details and ratings. Until then, our focus remains on careful preparation, so that when Karuna Care London does welcome its first residents, it does so as a safe, thoughtful and genuinely compassionate home.
